Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties Ten Gallon Donor Dinner
The Ten Gallon Donor Dinner was held on January 27 at the National Orange Show Events
Center in conjunction with National Volunteer Blood Donor Month as proclaimed by the
President of the United States. The evening honored new and current members of the Ten
Gallon Donor Club including the Blood Bank's top apheresis donor, Larry Bloesmsa, at 73
gallons and the top whole blood donor, Ed Ginsbach, at 30 gallons! In addition, 2004's
Marrow donors were recognized. The highlight of the evening was a video presentation of
lifelong blood user, Paul DiLorenzo. Paul shared his battle with thalassemia, a genetic
blood disorder that requires him to receive blood transfusions every three weeks , and
offered words of appreciation to Blood bank staff and those who give the gift of life.
