Ice Cream Social at Children's Hospital Los Angeles
Our recent ice cream social at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) was a big success.
While at the social, we handed out ice cream and sodas, as well as had a craft table for
the patients to make mother's day bookmarks among other things. We also handed out beach
balls so that the children could have a good time.
Most importantly, the ice cream social gave us the opportunity to meet the hospital
staff (doctors, nurses, and social workers) and introduce ourselves to them.
This was vital since they are the ones that treat Thalassemia patients on a daily basis.
We know that this will serve as the beginning of a great relationship with CHLA.
Along with the hospital staff, we had the great pleasure to meet and introduce ourselves
to several Thalassemia patients and their parents. This was especially important since
they are the ones that we are all here for. In meeting the patients and parents, we were
able to inform them of the services and support that we offer, as well as hear their concerns
and ideas of how we can better serve them.
The success of this event provides us with great encouragement for future events. We would
like to extend special thanks to everyone that we had the opportunity to meet and interact
with, especially the patients and parents that were able to come by. Many thanks also go
out to Bryce Imbler for helping us coordinate this event.
